Part-Time NPSMA Student Web Developer Position

We are seeking a motivated and skilled student to join our team as a part-time web developer for NPSMA.org and ProfessionalScienceMasters.org. The ideal candidate will have experience in PHP, WordPress and CSS to assist in maintaining and enhancing our website. This position offers a great opportunity for a student to apply their skills in a real-world setting and contribute to a platform that promotes professional science education.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the web development team to maintain, update, and make both websites, ProfessionalScienceMasters.org, and NPSMA.org similar in terms of structure/layout, branding elements, etc.
  • Implement design changes, new features, inter linking webpages on either websites, and functionalities using WordPress,
    CSS, and PHP.
    ● Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to website performance,
    responsiveness, and usability.
    ● Optimize website performance and ensure compatibility across different
    browsers and devices.
    ● Assist in the integration of plugins, tools, and third-party services to enhance site functionality.
    ● Ensure adherence to web development best practices and standards.
    ● Perform website backups and contribute to security measures to protect against
    vulnerabilities.
    ● Attend regular meetings with NPSMA staff and members to discuss website
    changes and updates.
    ● Implement changes in a timely manner and communicate updates to NPSMA
    staff and members.

 

Requirements:

  • WordPress development skills, including theme editing and plugin
    customization.
    ● Proficient in CSS and PHP, with a focus on creating responsive and
    interactive web layouts.
    ● Skills in integrating and maintaining databases
    ● Knowledge of implementing and maintaining SEO best practices.
    ● Ability to ensure website accessibility standards.
    ● Experience in working with Elementor and APIs for integrating various
    educational and professional platforms.
    ● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    ● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    ● Prior experience with website maintenance and development is preferred.
    ● Currently enrolled as a student in a relevant field (computer science, web
    development, etc.).
    ● Works well independently and can take direction from multiple stakeholders with different priorities.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
